What a way to welcome July with addition items on the Singapore McDonald's menu. Our Facebook feeds, Twitter, Instagram, basically on every highs and lows on anything social media this muscled sauced chicken burger have been invading our feeds. Is it really worth the hype?
Just in case you are feeling clueless, McDonald's Singapore have launched a new promotional menu (from 30th June to 30th August 2016). This new menu includes a hugely raved about Salted Egg Yolk Burger, Twister Fried with Salt & Pepper Crab Flavoured Shaker, Banana Pie and Gula Melaka McFlurry with Layered Cake Bites. Mouthwatering? Well, here is my 2 cents worth.
1. SALTED EGG YOLK BURGER

The Salted Egg Yolk burger features a juicy patty, kind of like your McSpicy patty, but less the spicy, generously sauced with the Salted Egg Yolk sauce topped with curry leaves and lettuce. The burger is pretty decent despite the bad reviews that have been circulating. I agree that it is not the best Salted Egg Yolk dish out there but it's McDonald's and it's less than $10. Would I try it again? Probably not.
2. SALT & PEPPER CRAB FLAVOURED SHAKER TWISTER FRIES

The Salt & Pepper Crab flavoured shaker Twister Fries is surprisingly good. In comparison to the notoriously salty seaweed flavoured, this is nothing like it. You got to shake them well and expect a less salty twister fries and also a local flavour burst. Definitely worth the try. Would I try it again? Definitely, probably together with other meals or à la carte. Well, I am not the biggest fast food fan out there.
3. BANANA PIE

The name of this pie is pretty clear cut on what it is and it is definitely not a let down. An adaptation to Goreng Pisang (Banana Fritters), it is really good. It also reminded me of the Banana Pancake from Thailand. This pie really transported me. A definite YES to a second try.
I have not try out the Gula Melaka McFlurry with Layered Cake Bits. I would probably update the post once I've tried it. My favourite should be the Banana Pie, hands down. The Salted Egg Yolk Burger, taste wise, is not so memorable. If you're short on cash, this might be the most affordable Salted Egg Yolk Burger, you probably can afford.
